Every wardrobe should have two kinds of swimsuits; one that forces you to swim for fitness' sake and the other that makes you want to wear it on the red carpet. When high-end fashion swimwear labels like Mark Hoffman, Fendi, La Perla, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton and Missoni are involved, it's usually the latter kind of opulence.

When luxury brands offer such escapism, you can't help but picture a poolside party on a warm summer afternoon. It's not just another image of a pretty lady modelling her bikini. But it's the high fashion labels' version of selling a good life where paradise can be easily found. Their vision of 'paradise', of course!

Vegas magazine's summer 2011 issue reiterates flamboyance through a steamy editorial, where the model Chrissy Teigen's lifestyle seems more important than the 'swimsuit' in itself. The narrative photography with high contrast and sepia undertones is an artistic epitome of a perfect summer life.

But the luxury labels haven't missed out on the 2011 bikini trends of monokinis, plunging necklines, vintage-inspired cuts and statement strapping. Stylist Yahaira Familia even kept the colour palette lavish; deep plum, emerald green, grape purple and gold.
