|Celebrities from Kansas City: Brad Pitt|
The handsome charmer hardly needs an introduction. Pitt hails just a stone’s throw away from Kansas City in Springfield, Missouri, and his acting career coupled with his recent engagement to Angelina Jolie has kept the paparazzi busy. Tabloids aside, Pitt has taken a vested interest in improving the quality of life right here in KC. In March 2012, Pitt’s Make It Right (MIR) foundation announced its next area of focus is the revitalization of the Bancroft School on Tracy Avenue, partnering with local architect firm BNIM. The school will get a much-needed facelift to become 250 housing units in an otherwise blighted urban core. With Pitt at the helm of MIR’s successful work in New Orleans’ Ninth Ward, the public awaits the local positive change as a result of his vision.
Anyone with aspirations of becoming a celebrity should look no further than KC Magazine's 'KC Gentlemen' for inspiration. Each one of the featured celebrities who hail from Kansas City have made their own indelible mark on their chosen career. KC born celebrity photographer Greg Gorman has been capturing photographic excellence for decades. Actor Ed Asner is another KC gentleman who knows all about longevity.
Endurance racing driver Scott Tucker is in an ultra exclusive club of drivers who have stood on the podium after completing the most grueling motorsports test of them all, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Football star Brandon Flowers is a role model both on and off the field. Designer Hal Swanson and sculptor Tom Corbin's work looks effortless and remains timeless. Oscar winning actor Chris Cooper, and heartthrob actors Brad Pitt, Tuc Watkins and Paul Rudd are all shining lights in their hometown and Hollywood. KC is home to a couple of legends who share the same name and need no introduction, jazz saxophonist Bobby Watson and golfer Tom Watson.
