WhatYoureMissingKC.blogspot.com : Young Farmers Screening Series - AMERICAN MEAT - Preview at UMKC
On Sunday, October 14th at 7pm, American Meatwill screen on the UM Kansas City campus in the Student Union at 5100 Cherry, as part of our nationwide Young Farmers Screening Series. The UMKC screening will be followed by a dynamic panel discussion, featuring local food activists, farmer Tom Parker, and the film director, Graham Meriwether.

American Meat is a pro-farmer look at hog, cattle, and chicken production in this country. Rather than taking sides, it allows farmers’ perspectives to convey the challenges involved in both conventional and sustainable forms of agriculture.

Three core actionable principles guide the Young Farmers Screening Series: thank America's farmers; support young farmers; and food choices matter. The screenings aim to stimulate dialogue about the meat industry, frame the conventional/organic debate from farmers’ perspectives, and inspire young people to pursue careers in agriculture and food.
The UMKC screening will be followed by a dynamic panel discussion, featuring local sustainable meat farmerTom Parker; co-founder of urban farmstead and educational centerBadseedBrooke Salvaggio;715 Mass chef Michael Beard; The Local Pig'sowner Alex Pope. The film director, Graham Meriwether, will moderate.
