After savoring five juicy cheeseburgers from five local restaurants for five weeks, Kansas Citians hereby crown the first winner of KC Magazine’s Burger Wars… Martin City Brewing Company.

There’s no question that all tour stops were worthy contenders, but the “We Build This City” burger at MCBC racked in almost double the votes of the second place contestant. As reviews poured in for MCBC’s 7-ounce cheeseburger, phrases like “fantastically delicious” and “obviously amazing” decorated our comment section at KCMag.com.

But it wasn’t just the city’s best burger that made mouths water. Guests continue to rave about Martin City’s extensive beer list, which tops 50 brews, with many from local brewing companies such as Boulevard and Weston. For those awaiting balmy weather, a beer garden will give patrons a chance to enjoy their drafts amidst a sunny afternoon.

With a professional chef at the helm of the kitchen, MCBC sates appetites for a slew of cuisine types. From the shrimp po’boy with a dab of remoulade sauce ($8) to the fried egg and sage sandwich on toasted sourdough ($6), diners will find a signature MCBC twist on just about everything.

Whether it’s the house-made ketchup or the neighborhood feeling patrons get when they sit down in the restored 100-year-old building, this new Martin City mainstay has brewed up something worth the chatter.

Here’s what you had to say
Bcordill: The combination of the atmosphere, the food, the beer selection and the excellent service puts Martin City Brewing Co. among the top places in KC to enjoy a burger.

LanaDunning: It’s like an explosion of creamy, cheesy goodness. It takes my tastebuds on a vacation!

KCBigDog: MCBC has a great selection of craft beer, and the food is wonderful. Everything I’ve eaten there has been great!

Judithls: It’s the best place to go for a real neighborhood experience. Sports, entertainment, great staff––they have the winning combination.

Stockm: Great experience down to the homemade ketchup! The service is always great and they turned this older building into the new hot spot in KC.

Highwayman: Lived in KC all my life and have had every burger in town. This is my new favorite––nothing else comes close. Best burger, best beer selection and great value.

STL_Berbatov: MCBC is a great spot to eat, drink or watch a game. The food is creative and tasty, and they have a great selection of brews. Five stars every time I go.
