|Sizzling Summer Menus|
12 Baltimore at Hotel Phillips (106 W. 12th St.)
Sip-worthy drinks flood the menu at this sophisti-sexy hot spot, where the mixologists take to the gardens and groves for the freshest ingredients. Guests can always count on an inventive concoction to go with any of the delicious menu items. Here's an introduction to two of our faves.
Lemongrass Mojito ($8) A refreshing blend of Bacardi rum, fresh lemon and sprigs of mint.
Rockmelon Cantaloupe Martini ($10) A smooth rendition of Effen cucumber vodka, Rockmelon Cantaloupe Syrup, cranberry juice and a splash of fresh lime
And with three more luscious libations on the 12 Baltimore menu, patrons are set for a night of indulgence and live music.
RA SUSHI (11638 Ash St., Leawood)
The sushi masters and expert chefs at RA are rolling out new summer specials that, as they say, "RA-ck." We sampled a little of this and a little of that, and though the whole menu was fantastic here are three items that are to-die for.
Bonfire Shrimp appetizer ($11.75) This lightly breaded assortment is aptly named for its firecracker kick from the chili sauce. It's definitely more than enough to kick-start an entrée.
Crispy Asian Tacos (starting at $8.25) This set of Asian-inspired tacos is becoming the talk of Leawood and RA's most popular summer menu item. We fawned over the chicken tacos (think chicken salad) and the "RA"ckin' Shrimp tacos.
Now what's summer without a refreshing drink... or three. The Lycheetini (bottom, $9) combines exotic flavors, vodka and lychee juice to create a cocktail under 200 calories. The Cucumber Collins (right, $8) couldn't be more refreshing and the Kiwi-Berry Kiss (left, $8) is perfectly sweet and summery.
THE CAPITAL GRILLE (4740 Jefferson St.)
This upscale steakhouse nestled on a corner of The Plaza has a longstanding reputation for amazing service and romanticism. Cheers from the rooftops were heard when the restaurant announced its Generous Wine Pour is back with fantastic wines from around the world.
The Generous Pour ($25) gives guests a sip and a savor of nine handpicked wines by Master Sommelier George Milotes. Milotes traveled the world and found bottles from Italy, Slovenia, Napa, France and beyond that patrons just can't live without. The wonderfully helpful servers (PJ Vadovicky was ours and so fantastic) with help you decide which plates pair best with these refreshing summer wines. Hurry, it ends September 4.
