Recently Design Build Team came across an article on Yahoo.com titled “Kiss These 10 Once-Popular Home Features Goodbye” . Two of the features in the article had one thing in common, they both were two story home spaces. The features were the two-story family room and the two story foyer.  Two Story Foyer. Photo via atlantaluxurycommunities.com. Even though these features create beautiful grand spaces in the home, the blame for the decrease in the trend is increased utility bills. Today’s home buyer is more conscious than ever of the importance of an energy efficient home. The article states that, “Home buyers are more focused on energy-saving windows and appliances than on soaring spaces in 2012.”  Two Story Family Room. Photo via hookedonhouses.net.
