Kansas City

Kansas City construction rebounded over the past few months, which reflects and contributes to economic growth in the city. Media and housing authorities have been noting the positive trend. The Kansas City Star reported:

Home-building activity in the Kansas City area is poised for its best year since the recession knocked construction to its knees in 2008…In the metro area, permits to construct single-family homes climbed (in November).

Sara Corlesss, an expert at the Home Builders Association of Greater Kansas City, told the Kansas City Star:

“By all accounts, the home building industry is continuing to improve, which is an important signal of stability amidst the slowly emerging recovery.”

Factors for the increase in Kansas City construction include: record low interest rates, rising national employment, and a population increase in Kansas City. Even those homeowners who are looking to sell their homes often renovate their kitchens and bathrooms in order to make their home sell faster.

The trend is likely to continue into 2013.
