  • it was a long day, but we got the majority of our stuff moved to our new space. thanks for the help chaz, jeff, dusty, lee, thom, dianna & mark! much appreciated! 3 days ago
  • here's your informative lesson for today: 1 board foot is equal to 144 cubic inches (12 inches x 12 inches x 1 inch). for this particular furniture build 110 board feet of walnut were purchased....but the actual yield of material is approx. 54.70 board feet. (10,500 square inches x .75 inch [actual thickness] / 144 cubic inches). this is the main reason why we came up with the SIC (scrap into cash) idea. most of the remaining 55.30 board feet is still usable in some manner (i.e. cutting boards, table tops, etc.). congrats to Colleen Driver & Julie Eble Savage you both are winners of Studio Build's first giveaway contest. contact me at ryan@studiobld.com to claim your cutting board and bottle opener. 6 days ago
  • we are going to figure the total board feet of walnut (see post below) in the morning. if you haven't guessed at it yet, you have a few more hours. 1 week ago
  • Moving the shop this weekend. Looking for volunteers. Please let us know if anyone wants to help on saturday, we pay in beer, barbecue and cash. 1 week ago
  • after a week of gluing up the panels and 5 hours of sanding, this walnut is about ready for assembly. from the looks of it, our clients are going to be some happy campers! the first one to guess the board feet of walnut in this stack will receive a cutting board and a bottle opener! 1 week ago
